Plasma cutting is a technique for metal cutting using a plasma arc. Its temperature is very high, and it can melt or vaporize metal materials in an instant. Plasma cutting can cut metals with high temperature resistance, good thermal conductivity and easy oxidation, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and aluminum alloys, copper, etc. The fume generated by plasma cutting are similar to welding fume, with large quantities of fume including noxious gases and tiny dust particles such as Co, Co2, ozone, oxynitride and hydrocarbons.

How a Dust Collection System Works for Large Plasma Cutter

The dust removal system of large plasma cutting machine adopts the cutting arm follow-up dust removal system and a two-stage dust removal filter device, which has achieved satisfactory results. The main structure and process flow of the dust removal system are : The dust removal system of the CNC plasma cutting machine is a follow-up dust removal type. There is a suction hood on the cutting arm of the cutter. The dust hood moves with the host and faces the cutting part of the worktable. The tube uses a telescoping hose. When the dust removal system is working, the suction hood only controls the cutting part of the cutting platform, and always ensures that the cutting part of the cutting head, that is, the part where the dust is generated, is pumped. The cutting dust first passes through the primary cyclone dust collector to deal with larger particles, and then passes through the secondary filter cartridge type high-efficiency dust collector to deal with the breathing dust that is more harmful to the human body. The air volume of the system is small, the production of the dust cover is relatively simple, the overall investment cost is small, and the dust removal efficiency is high.

Material of dust removal system:

The dust collector of the plasma cutting machine adopts high-efficiency filter element. The filter element must be a filter material with a PTFE membrane on the surface. Its extremely small mesh can block most of the 0.3μm dust particles or bigger, and gather on the surface of the filter material to form a permeable dust cake, which can block most of the sub-micron dust particles. The filter cartridge is equipped with an automatic back-blowing mechanism to ensure that the dust can be removed in a timely and effective manner under the purging of compressed air, and the filtration effect and the service life of the filter material can be improved.

The dust removal method of the plasma cutting machine:

The negative pressure air flow generated by the fan enters the dust collector through the pipeline, first filters the sparks and large particles through the spark catcher, and then enters the clean room through filtration and separation. Dust is blocked by filter elements on its surface. When the blocked dust is continuously deposited on the surface of the filter element, the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the filter element is also increasing. When the pressure difference reaches the preset value, the solenoid valve that controls the compressed air is opened, and the compressed air is jetted into the back-blowing cleaning system through the pipeline, and is instantly sprayed on the surface of the filter element, so that the dust particles deposited on the filter element are under high pressure. Under the action of the airflow, it is separated from the surface of the filter element, so that most accumulated dust on the surface of the filter element falls into the ash hopper. Filtered air is discharged into the workshop.
